Producers continued making progress on planting of sorghum, soybeans and sweet potatoes. Cotton has begun setting bolls. Rice heading has begun and producers continued applying herbicides, fertilizers and fungicides as insects and diseases became apparent. Wheat harvesting was nearing completion. Fruits, Vegetables, and Specialty Crops Report Harvesting on peaches made good headway last week reaching 35 percent, ahead of the 5-year average. Vegetable producers were harvesting crops. Tomato producers were spraying to control insects in fields. Livestock, Pasture, and Range Report Cattlemen continued supplemental feeding due to pasture shortage. First cutting on hay continued, reaching 82 percent last week.
