Harvesting of some crops resumed the latter part of the week. Some cotton producers were expecting losses of quantity and quality in their crop. Soybean damage consisted of some shedding of pods. Sugarcane in lower southern parishes was damaged due to salt water from storm surges. Other damage to sugarcane consisted of lodging, broken tops and shredded leaves. Sugarcane harvesting was underway. Wheat producers were preparing land for planting. Fruits, Vegetables, and Specialty Crops Report The pecan crop was heavily damaged from the hurricane. Citrus producers were assessing fruit loss. Some vegetable crops were flooded. Livestock, Pasture, and Range Report Most pastures in southern Louisiana were flooded from the hurricane, and cattle were sold or brought to higher ground. Cattlemen were faced with a shortage of hay and water.
