mi-crop-weather State Michigan Crop Weather Released November 27, 2006 Week Ending Date November 26, 2006 Issue MI-CW4706 Agricultural Summary Warm and Dry Six days were suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 26, according to the USDA, NASS, Michigan Field Office. Precipitation amounts ranged from none in the central, south central, and southeast Lower Peninsula to 0.18 inches in the northeast Lower Peninsula. Average temperatures ranged from 2 degrees above normal in the southeast Lower Peninsula to 10 degree above normal in the western Upper Peninsula. Farmers were able to use the dry week to harvest some of the remaining crops. A farmer in the southwest mentioned that, "The grain terminals are starting to fill up as farmers try to finish harvest. Last week was good for harvesting." A farmer in the northwest said that, "The weather allowed for excellent progress in harvesting corn." Field Crops Report Field Crops Harvest picked up as warm, dry weather returned. Corn harvest continued. Soybean harvest neared completion. Winter wheat emergence and condition improved with the warmer temperatures. Last Issue for 2006 This concludes the 2006 Crop Weather season. Reports will resume in late April 2007.
