mi-crop-weather State Michigan Crop Weather Released November 14, 2011 Week Ending Date November 13, 2011 Issue MI-CW4611 Agricultural Summary Harvest Winding Down Four days were suitable for fieldwork during the week ended November 13, according to the USDA, NASS, Michigan Field Office. Precipitation ranged from 0.67 to 2.32 inches in the Upper Peninsula, and ranged from 0.52 to 1.72 inches in the Lower Peninsula. Temperature was 3 degrees above normal in the Upper Peninsula, and ranged from 5 to 7 degrees above normal in the Lower Peninsula. Field Crops Report Field Crops Seasonally temperate weather early in the week allowed farmers to make good progress in their harvest. Corn harvest, which had been running later than normal, was now on-par with the fiveyear average. Dry weather allowed for some fall tillage after corn harvest. Soybean harvest was nearly complete. Wheat planting was complete, and the warm weather in southern Michigan enhanced growth. Sugarbeet harvest was nearly complete.
