Johnson, Director Agricultural Statistics Annual Report Released The compilation and release of the "Michigan Agricultural Statistics 2011- 2012" publication is provided as part of a partnership between the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Michigan State University (Michigan Agricultural Bio Research, Extension Service, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Department) and the USDA, NASS, Michigan Field Office. This annual publication includes information on 2011 field crop, fruit, vegetable, and floriculture production survey results. Inventory numbers for cattle, hogs, and poultry are also included. County-level data are published for selected crop and livestock items as well as Michigan's rankings, record highs and lows, and chemical usage data for selected Fruit and commercial fertilizer consumption. Michigan’s net farm income in 2011 rose 64.6 percent from the previous year to $2.03 billion. That includes $156.6 million of government payments. Total agriculture output was $9.03 billion dollars, up 22.6 percent from 2010. Production expenses were $5.84 billion, up 5.8 percent from the previous year. Total farm cash receipts of $5.03 billion, up 20.8 percent from 2010. Due to State budget constraints, only a limited number of paper copies of the publication will be printed and distributed. On the Michigan page, select the Annual Statistical Bulletin in the Michigan Publications dropdown. The 2011-2012 report can be viewed and printed in either pdf or text file format. Publication of the report continues the data series dating back to 1886. All of the previous reports are also available on the Michigan page.
