mn-crop-weather State Minnesota Weekly Crop-Weather Week Ending Date Week Ending November 4, 2007 Issue MN-CW-43-07 Agricultural Summary The corn and sunflower harvests continued rapidly, aided by warm temperatures and favorable weather, according to USDA, NASS, Minnesota Field Office. There was an average of 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork during the week as sun and wind helped dry down crops and reduce wet field conditions. The soybean harvest was nearly completed while fall tillage and fertilizer applications were in full swing. The average temperature for the week was 44.2 degrees, 6.5 degrees above normal. Statewide topsoil moisture supplies as of Friday were rated 1 percent very short, 3 short, 79 adequate, and 17 surplus. Field Crops Summary As of Sunday, Nov 4th, eighty-nine percent of corn for grain was harvested compared to 80 percent for the five-year average. Moisture content of corn harvested for grain was estimated at 16 percent. Ninety-seven percent of soybeans were harvested compared to 97 percent average. Sunflowers were 83 percent harvested, compared to 75 percent average. As of Friday, Nov 2nd, fifty percent of pasture was rated in good or excellent condition.
