mn-crop-weather State Minnesota Weekly Crop-Weather Week Ending Date Week Ending November 11, 2007 Issue MN-CW-45-07 Agricultural Summary Minnesota's corn and sunflower harvests neared completion this past week as favorable weather persisted across the state, according to USDA, NASS, Minnesota Field Office. Producers were wrapping up harvest about 10 days ahead of the five-year average, while fall tillage and application of fertilizers were the main activities of the week. Topsoil moisture supply ratings improved to 83 percent adequate compared with 64 percent adequate last fall. The average temperature for the week was 34.7 degrees, 1.1 degrees above normal. Statewide topsoil moisture supplies as of Friday were rated 1 percent very short, 6 short, 83 adequate, and 10 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 5 percent very short, 13 short, 79 adequate, and 3 surplus. Field Crops Summary As of Sunday, Nov 11th, ninety-seven percent of corn for grain was harvested compared to 90 percent for the five-year average. Sunflowers were 98 percent harvested, compared to 86 percent average. As of Friday, Nov 9th, forty-one percent of pasture was rated in good or excellent condition.
