mn-crop-weather State Minnesota Weekly Crop-Weather Week Ending Date Week Ending November 9, 2008 Issue MN-CW-45-08 Agricultural Summary Minnesota's producers continued to make steady harvest progress this past week, despite widespread rain throughout the state, according to USDA, NASS, Minnesota Field Office. Corn harvest advanced 21 percentage points during the week ending Sunday, November 9th. Sunflower harvest also continued to progress steadily and sugarbeet harvest neared completion. The average temperature for the week was 45.7 degrees, 11.0 degrees above normal. Statewide topsoil moisture supplies as of Friday, November 7th, were 1 percent very short, 5 short, 67 adequate, and 27 surplus. Statewide, on average, there were 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork during the week. Field Crops Summary As of Sunday, November 9th, 75 percent of the corn crop was harvested, compared to 95 percent last year and 90 percent average. Sugarbeet harvest was at 95 percent complete, compared to 100 percent last year and average. Sunflower harvest reached 70 percent complete, compared to 94 percent last year and 86 percent average. As of Friday, November 7th, 41 percent of pasture was rated in good or excellent condition.
