The final yield is estimated at 164.0 bushels per acre, down 4 bushels from November but up 18 bushels from last year. Corn harvested acres, at 7.20 million acres, are down 8 percent or 650,000 acres from last year. This is the second highest harvested acre total on record. SOYBEAN production, estimated at 264 million bushels, is down 2 percent from November and down 1 percent from 2007. The estimated yield is 38.0 bushels per acre, down 1 bushel from November and down 4.5 bushels from last year. Soybean harvested acres, at 6.95 million acres, are up 10 percent or 660,000 acres from 2007. SPRING WHEAT production is estimated at 101 million bushels, up 27 percent from last year. Acres harvested for grain at 1.80 million acres, is up 9 percent from last year. The estimated yield at 56.0 bushels per acre is up 8 bushels from a year ago. This yield is the second highest on record for Minnesota, below the 2003 level of 58.0 bushels per acre. The SUGARBEET production of 9.86 million tons is down 14 percent from last year. Yield is estimated at 24.7 tons per acre, up 0.9 tons per acre from last year and 0.2 tons per acre below the record yield set in 2006. Sugarbeet harvested acres are 399,000 acres, down 82,000 from last year. ALL ALFALFA FORAGE production of 4.80 million tons is up 22 percent from last year. Yield is estimated at 3.17 tons per acre, up from 3.03 tons per acre last year. Forage harvested acres are 1.52 million acres, up 215,000 acres from last year.
