Little precipitation and warm weather allowed harvest and fieldwork to progress. Topsoil moisture, statewide, is rated 73 percent adequate and 27 percent surplus. There were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork. Fall tillage is 38 percent complete, 29 days behind last year and the normal of 76 percent. Grain movement from farm to elevator is moderate to heavy with 34 percent light, 45 percent moderate, and 14 percent heavy. Off–Farm storage availability rates 44 percent short, 53 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. On-Farm storage availability rates 42 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.
Corn harvest is 85 percent complete, 9 days behind last year, and 28 days behind the normal of 99 percent. Harvest increased over 10 points in the northern third of the State. The moisture content of corn harvested averaged 17 percent statewide with a range of 16 to 19 percent. Soybean harvest is 93 percent complete, 4 days behind last year and 8 days behind a normal of 97 percent. Soybean harvest progressed 21 points in the southwest district, while the west-central and north-central districts increased 12 and 10 points, respectively. Cotton harvest increased 8 points to 86 percent complete, 26 days behind last year and 19 days behind the normal of 99 percent. The sorghum harvested is 88 percent complete, 7 days behind last year and 17 days behind the normal of 98 percent. Harvest in the northeast, central, and east-central districts progressed at least 10 points. Winter wheat seeding is 69 percent complete, 24 days behind last year and 27 days behind a normal of 97 percent. Seeding in the north-central and west-central districts increased 24 and 23 points respectively. Emergence is at 53 percent, 19 days behind last year and 25 days behind normal. Winter wheat condition is 10 percent poor, 47 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 2 percent excellent. Conditions in the southwest district are rated at 49 percent poor.
Pasture condition is rated 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 62 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.
Temperatures averaged 2 to 3 degrees above average in the southeast district and 4 to 7 degrees above average across the rest of the State. Rainfall averaged 0.16 of an inch across the State. The northwest reported the most precipitation with 0.42 of an inch while the west-central and southwest reported the least precipitation at 0.01 of an inch.
