Weather Summary

Montana received light precipitation throughout the state during the week ending May 24th. Superior, for the second week in a row, received the most weekly accumulated precipitation with 1.53 inches. Highs were mostly in the 70s and 80s, and lows mostly ranged in the mid 20s to 40s. Broadus had the high temperature at 97 degrees. Cascade had the weekly low temperature at 18. Topsoil moisture adequate and surplus is 83 percent, below last week's 91 percent, but above last year's 74 percent and the five-year average of 69 percent. Subsoil moisture adequate and surplus is 74 percent, below last week's 83 but above last year's 43 percent and the five-year average of 47 percent. The number of days suitable for field work was 6.1, up from last week's 4.5 days.

The weather outlook for June 2nd through June 8th is for near normal temperatures and above normal precipitation for both east and west of the continental divide. Normal temperatures for this period in Montana are highs in the mid 60s to the upper 70s and lows ranging from the mid 30s to the lower 50s.
