Weather Summary
The state received widespread moisture over the past week. Superior and
Hardin had the high temperature in Montana last week at 98 degrees. Wisdom,
for the second week in a row, had the low temperature at 34 degrees. Creston
and Kalispell both received the greatest amount of precipitation during
the week with 1.43 inches. Topsoil moisture is 55 percent adequate and
surplus, down from last week's 59 percent, but up from last year's 28
percent. Subsoil moisture is 47 percent adequate and surplus, down from
last week's 48 percent, but up from last year's 37 percent. The number
of days suitable for field work was 6.1, up from last week's 5.0 days.
The weather outlook for the week of July 27th through August 2nd is for
below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation east of the divide.
West of the divide is looking at near normal precipitation and temperatures.
Normal temperatures for this period in Montana are highs in the upper
70s to the upper 80s, and lows in the lower 40s to the lower 60s.

Field Crops Report
Montana continues to have hot weather and some grasshopper and sawfly
damage persists. Seventy-eight percent of winter wheat is turning, up
from 25 percent last week, and is caught up to last year at this time.
Producers are expected to begin harvesting next week.0
