| All wheat stocks in Montana on June 1, 2009 were 40.4 million
bushels, up 113 percent from a year ago. All wheat stocks stored on the
farm amounted to 26.0 million bushels, up 348 percent from a year ago.
All wheat stored off farm amounted to 14.4 million bushels, up 9 percent
from a year ago. All wheat disappearance for the March - May 2009 quarter
was 33.2 million bushels, up 37 percent from 24.2 million bushels last
year. Montana barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2009 were 13.8 million bushels, up 60 percent from a year ago. Barley stored on farm was 5.0 million bushels, up 104 percent from the previous year. Off-farm storage of barley, at 8.8 million bushels, was up 42 percent from last year. Barley disappearance for the March - May 2009 quarter, at 6.1 million bushels, was down 24 percent from last year's 8.1 million bushels. Oats stocks in all positions were 730,000 bushels, down 9 percent from last year and the lowest stocks since records began in 1950. On-farm oat stocks were 700,000 bushels, down 7 percent from a year ago. Oats stored off farm were down 40 percent from last year to 30,000 bushels. For the U.S., all wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2009 totaled 667 million bushels, up 118 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks are estimated at 141 million bushels, up 449 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 526 million bushels, are up 88 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2009 indicated disappearance is 373 million bushels, down 7 percent from the same period a year earlier. Durum wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2009 totaled 25.2 million bushels, up 204 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 13.3 million bushels, are up 466 percent from June 1, 2008. Off-farm stocks totaled 11.9 million bushels, up 100 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2009 indicated disappearance of 7.10 million bushels is down 58 percent from the same period a year earlier. Barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2009 totaled 88.6 million bushels, up 30 percent from June 1, 2008. On-farm stocks are estimated at 27.0 million bushels, 171 percent above a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 61.6 million bushels, are 6 percent above June 1, 2008. The March - May 2009 indicated disappearance is 40.5 million bushels, 4 percent below the same period a year earlier. Oats stored in all positions on June 1, 2009 totaled 84.1 million bushels, 26 percent above the stocks on June 1, 2008. Of the total stocks on hand, 17.5 million bushels are stored on farms, 9 percent higher than a year ago. Off-farm stocks totaled 66.7 million bushels, 32 percent above the previous year. Indicated disappearance during March - May 2009 totaled 11.3 million bushels, compared with 12.2 million bushels during the same period a year ago. Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2009 totaled 4.27 billion bushels, up 6 percent from June 1, 2008. Of the total stocks, 2.21 billion bushels are stored on farms, up 12 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 2.06 billion bushels, are up slightly from a year ago. The March - May 2009 indicated disappearance is 2.69 billion bushels, compared with 2.83 billion bushels during the same period last year. |
