Carbon County, Montana


        Carbon County, situated in the south central
    portion of Montana, was established in March
    1895. It's northern boundary is marked by the
    Yellowstone River, while the southwestern corner
    of the county is covered with part of the Custer
    National Forest and the Beartooth Mountain
    Range. Several unnamed mountain peaks in this
    range within Carbon County's boundaries boast
    elevations above 13,000 feet.
