Custer County, Montana


        Custer, one of the original counties of
    Montana, lies in the southeastern corner of the
    state. The county consists mainly of rolling
    country with pronounced breaks along the
    Yellowstone and Tongue Rivers. The Yellow-
    stone River cuts through the northwestern
    corner of Custer County, while the Tongue
    River cuts the southwestern corner to join
    the Yellowstone near Miles City. The Powder
    River runs the length of the eastern half of
    the county.
