Stillwater County, Montana


        Stillwater County is found in south central
    Montana. The Yellowstone River crosses the
    center of the county from west to east. The
    Stillwater River enters in the south and joins
    the Yellowstone River near Columbus. Parts of
    the Gallatin National Forest and Absaroka-
    Beartooth Wilderness blanket the southern tip
    of the county. The second highest peak in the
    state, Mt. Wood, with an elevation of 12,661
    feet, is located in this area. Big game and
    waterfowl hunting, as well as fishing are all
    enjoyed in the county.
