Mark Harris Director ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nebraska November 1 Crop Report Based on November 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2005 corn crop is forecast at 1.29 billion bushels, 2 percent below last month and 2 percent below last year’s record production. Yield is forecast at 157 bushels per acre, down 3 bushels from last month and 9 bushels below last year’s record high. Soybean production is forecast at 228 million bushels, unchanged from last month and 4 percent above last year. Yield is forecast at 49 bushels per acre, unchanged from last month and 3 bushels above last year. At this level, both production and yield would be the largest on record. Sorghum production is forecast at 21.3 million bushels, unchanged from October and 37 percent below last year. Yield is forecast at 85 bushels per acre, unchanged from the previous month and up 4 bushels from last year. U.S. November 1 Crop Report U.S. corn production is forecast at 11.0 billion bushels, up 2 percent from last month but 7 percent below 2004. Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 148.4 bushels per acre, up 2.3 bushels from October but 12.0 bushels below last year. If realized, both production and yield would be the second largest on record. Soybean production is forecast at 3.04 billion bushels, up 3 percent from October but 3 percent below 2004. Based on November 1 conditions, yields are expected to average a record high 42.7 bushels per acre, up 1.1 bushels from October and 0.5 bushel above last year. Sorghum grain production is forecast at 388 million bushels, up 3 percent from last month but down 15 percent from last year. The U.S. sorghum yield forecast is 68.2 bushels per acre, up 2.2 bushels from October but down 1.6 bushels from last year.
