These data are direct results of information provided by Nebraska producers and agribusinesses to the surveys conducted each month by this office. Thank you for your response to these surveys. Mark Harris Director ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nebraska November 1 Crop Report Based on November 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2006 corn crop is forecast at 1.23 billion bushels, 1 percent below last month and 3 percent below last year. Yield is forecast at 159 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from last month and 7 bushels below 2004’s record high. Soybean production is forecast at 255 million bushels, unchanged from last month, 8 percent above last year and highest on record. Yield is forecast at 51 bushels per acre, unchanged from last month and 0.5 bushel above the previous high in 2005. At this level, both production and yield would be the largest on record. Sorghum production is forecast at 20.8 million bushels, down 1 percent from October and 4 percent below last year. Yield is forecast at 80 bushels per acre, down 1 bushel from the previous month and down 7 bushels from last year. U.S. November 1 Crop Report U.S. corn production is forecast at 10.7 billion bushels, down 1 percent from October and 3 percent lower than 2005. Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 151.2 bushels per acre, down 2.3 bushels from October but 3.3 bushels higher than last year. If realized, the yield would be the second largest on record. Soybean production is forecast at 3.20 billion bushels, up slightly from October and 5 percent above 2005. If realized, this would be the largest U.S. soybean crop on record. Based on November 1 conditions, yields are expected to average 43.0 bushels per acre, up 0.2 bushel from October and equal to last year’s record high yield. Sorghum grain production is forecast at 288 million bushels, down 4 percent from October and 27 percent below 2005. The U.S. sorghum yield forecast is 54.2 bushels per acre, down 2.4 bushels from October and down 14.5 bushels from last year.
