The top Horticulture Specialty states by total sales are California and Florida, respectively. New York ranks ninth overall with $303 million in total sales. New York ranks sixth overall in number of Horticulture operations with 1,040. Of the total Horticulture expenses in New York, all hired labor made up 36 percent of the total. Seeds, plants, vines, trees, etc, purchased made up 21 percent of the total. The Census of Horticultural Specialties provides the only comprehensive, detailed data on U.S. floriculture, nursery and specialty crop production at the national and state levels. It provides information on the number and types of establishments, value of sales, varieties of products, production expenses and more.
