2007 ANNUAL SUMMARY
| The 2007 value of New York
tree fruit and grape production totaled $346 million, up 10 percent
from the 2006 value, according to Stephen Ropel, Director of USDA’s National
Agricultural Statistics Service, New York office. The value of utilized
production was above the previous year for all fruits except pears and
peaches. Apple production was up 2 percent to 1.27 billion pounds. Total grape production increased 16 percent from 2006 to |
180,000 tons. Tart cherry production totaled 13.0 million pounds, up 25 percent from the 2006 crop. Pear production was down 31 percent to 11,000 tons, and peach production was down 10 percent to 6,300 tons. Nationally, in 2007, New York ranked second in apple production, third in grape production, and fourth in pear production. |
