WINERY SURVEY RESULTS
At the request of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, a seven question winery survey was conducted the first week of March 2009. Results are a tabulated summation of reports received during this very short data collection period. No attempt was made to estimate for non-response or incomplete reports. This survey targeted wineries with fewer than 1 million gallons in annual production.
Of the 168 wineries reporting, 2 started active wineries prior to 1900. The wine industry grew actively through the years. From 2000 to 2009, 86 new wineries were established.
