2002 ANNUAL SUMMARY

The value of all New York vegetable production in 2002 totaled $317 million, according to the New York Agricultural Statistics Service. New York ranked sixth in the nation for the value of principle fresh market vegetables and ninth for the value of principle processed vegetables in 2002.

The value of the Empire State's principle fresh market vegetables totaled $291 million this year. Fresh market production in 2002 is estimated at 13.8 million cwt.  Processing vegetables were valued at $25.5 million in 2002 and production totaled 175 thousand tons.
