2003 ANNUAL SUMMARY


The value of all New York vegetable production in 2003 totaled $321 million, according to the New York Agricultural Statistics Service. New York ranked sixth in the nation for the value of principle fresh market vegetables and eighth for the value of principle processed vegetables in 2003.

The value of the Empire State's principle fresh market vegetables totaled $287 million this year. Fresh market production in 2003 is estimated at 14.9 million cwt.

Processing vegetables were valued at $34.3 million in 2003 and production totaled 248 thousand tons.
