2007 ANNUAL SUMMARY
The value of all New York vegetable production in 2007 totaled $436 million, according to Stephen Ropel, Director of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, New York Field Office. New York remained fifth in the nation for the value of principal fresh market vegetables.
The value of the Empire State’s principal fresh market vegetables totaled $397 million this year. Fresh market production in 2007 was estimated at 17.5 million hundredweight (cwt.).
Processing vegetables were valued at $39.3 million in 2007 and production totaled 221 thousand tons.
