High temperatures across the state reached into the mid-80s to low 90s for the first half of the week. A slow moving cold front moved through the state on Wednesday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures were in the 70s behind the front for the second half of the workweek. Rain fell across the state again on Friday. The central areas saw the heaviest rainfall amounts. Temperatures warmed again for the weekend, with highs in the 80s statewide. Another frontal system brought showers and storms to the state late on Sunday, especially in the eastern areas where some storms reached severe limits. Outlook, August 21-27: High pressure will be in control on Monday and bring mostly clear skies with temperatures near seasonal averages. The next system will begin to affect the state late on Tuesday. Thunderstorms will develop in the western areas and spread east late on Tuesday and into Wednesday. A southerly air flow out ahead of the system will bring warm temperatures and increasing humidity for the first half of the week. Look for highs in 80s statewide, with a few areas in the south and west reaching the low 90s. High temperatures will cool off during the second half of the week. Look for highs in the upper 70s north and east to the low and mid-80s south and west. Overnight lows will be pleasant with temperatures in the 50s. Look for another chance of showers and storms across the state on Friday. High pressure will build for the weekend with dry conditions and seasonal temperatures.
