nd-crop-weather STATE NORTH DAKOTA CROP, LIVESTOCK & WEATHER REPORT RELEASE DATE, WEEK ENDING DATE Released: November 13, 2007 For Week Ending: November 11, 2007 ISSUE ND-CW4607 AGRICULTURAL SUMMARY General: Dry conditions allowed producers to make good harvest progress during this past week, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service, North Dakota Field Office. Reporters noted that producers were concerned about rainfall to replenish soil moisture supplies for winter wheat and next year's crops. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 14 percent very short, 37 short and 49 adequate. This compares with last year's 6 percent very short, 31 short, 62 adequate and 1 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 85 percent short to adequate, compared with last year's 77 percent, respectively. Statewide, on average, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork. FIELD CROPS REPORT Crops: Row crop harvest made good progress across the state. Corn for grain and sunflower harvest progress both advanced to 91 percent complete by week's end. Both crops were behind last year but ahead of the average pace. LIVESTOCK, PASTURE AND RANGE REPORT Livestock: Producers main activities were moving cattle to graze on corn stalks and selling calves. Stockwater supplies were rated 4 percent very short, 18 short, 75 adequate and 3 surplus. This compares to last year when stockwater supplies were rated 10 percent very short, 34 short, 55 adequate and 1 surplus. Monday started off the week dry with highs in the 30s to low 40s. Tuesday continued to stay dry and cold with highs in the 30s to 40s. A few isolated light rain showers on Wednesday moved through the western half of the state with highs in the 40s to 50s. On Thursday, a few isolated light rain showers fell in the western and central regions of the state with highs in the 30s to mid-50s. Friday stayed dry with highs in the 30s to 40s. Saturday was dry and unseasonably warm with highs in the 50s to 60s with the western half of the state having the higher temperatures. Sunday continued the warm trend with highs in the 50s to low 60s. Outlook, November 12-18: Monday will start off the week warm with the chance of an isolated shower in the central and eastern regions of the state with highs in the 50s. Tuesday will be dry and windy with highs in the 50s to lower 60s. Wednesday continues to stay windy with a chance of snow showers in the northern and central regions of the state with highs in the 30s to 40s. Thursday stays dry with highs in the 30s to upper 40s. Friday continues the dry trend with highs slightly warming up to the upper 30s to 40s. On Saturday, there is a chance of isolated showers in the morning and snow showers in the evening with highs in the 30s to 40s.
