A majority of stations in the State reported above average precipitation. All stations reported above normal temperatures. Echo had the highest recorded temperature, at 68 degrees, above their normal highs for this time of the season. Most stations in Oregon, outside of central and eastern regions, reported above freezing overnight lows. Agency Lake reported the lowest recorded temperature at 17 degrees. Western Oregon experienced strong winds and heavy rains early in the week, causing several road closures and flooding in areas. Detroit Lake received the most precipitation at 7.49 inches, above its normal precipitation for this time of the year. Field Crops: Grass for seed was growing well. Fall clover was growing. Willamette Valley wheat growth slowed due to erosion from heavy rain. Western Oregon field work limited by wet soil. Fruits and Nuts: Filberts were being selectively sprayed for blight, new filbert orchards were planted, along with some pruning. Some late season apples and winter pears are still at local farms stands that remained open. High winds and heavy rains hit the area early this week in Willamette Valley. Some limb breakage occurred. Vegetables: Some cole crops, such as broccoli, were being harvested. Some vegetables were still at farm stands that remained open. Nurseries and Greenhouses: Christmas tree cutting and stands populated with variety of choices. Nurseries and greenhouse were preparing for spring planting and digging large trees. Livestock, Range and Pasture: Pastures were wet and flooded in Polk County, but cattle and buffalo were in good shape. Most livestock are on feed now. The week's rains brought rainfall for the winter of 2012-13 from below average by 3 inches to above average by 3 inches. No field work will be possible for several weeks unless someone wants to rut their fields. JOSEPHINE: Overnight temperatures of 38 to 45 degree with daytime temperatures of 40 to 52 degrees. Eleven inches of rain this week and fog during mid part of week. Weather was windy and wild on Wednesday especially. It was quiet all around. LANE: Four inches of rain in some areas. Holiday markets are now until Christmas. Some apples, some vegetables, some winter pears were still at local farm stands that remained open. Call ahead of time to see what they have in stock. Christmas tree cutting and stands populated with variety of choices. YAMHILL: High winds and heavy rains hit the area early this week. Some limb breakage occurred. Eastern Oregon KLAMATH: A week of temperatures in the 50's. A quarter inch of precipitation early in the week, but other than that, the weather was dry. LAKE: The County was currently at 95 percent of normal for the water year that began October 1. UNION/BAKER: Most livestock are on feed now. Fall planting was finishing up.
