SD-CROP-LIVESTOCK South Dakota PRICES RECEIVED News Release June 1, 2005 CROP AND LIVESTOCK PRICES MIXED SIOUX FALLS, June 1, 2005 Preliminary May prices were up from April for soybeans and all wheat, while corn and sunflower were down, according to USDA's South Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service. Preliminary prices for swine were up, while cattle and calves were down. The preliminary all wheat price for May, at $3.50, was up 20 cents from last month but down 36 cents from last year. The winter wheat price, at $3.29, was up 17 cents from last month but down 38 cents from last May. The spring wheat price, at $3.62, was 21 cents higher than last month but 39 cents lower than last year. The May soybean price, at $6.02, was 2 cents higher than last month but $3.59 lower than last year. The corn price, at $1.75, was down 7 cents from last month and down $1.15 from last year. The preliminary all sunflower price, at $13.80, was down 50 cents from last month but up 50 cents from last year. The preliminary May all hog price, at $55.40, was up $3.00 from last month but $2.80 below last year. Barrows and gilts were up $3.40 from last month but down $2.80 from last year, while sows were up 80 cents from April but down $3.10 from May 2004. The preliminary May all beef cattle price, at $95.60, was down $3.70 from last month but up $6.30 from last year. Steers and heifers, at $103.00, were down $2.00 from April but up $5.80 from May of last year. Calves, at $136.00, were down $2.00 from last month but up $14.00 from May 2004. The all hay price for May, at $60.00 per ton, was down $1.00 from April and down $3.00 from last year. The alfalfa price, at $61.00 per ton, was down $1.00 from last month and down $3.00 from last year. The other hay price, at $49.00, was down $3.00 from last month and down $2.00 from May 2004.
