sd-crop-livestock PRICES RECEIVED News Release June 27, 2005 CROP AND LIVESTOCK PRICES MIXED FROM LAST MONTH SIOUX FALLS, June 27, 2005 -- Preliminary crop prices for June were mixed compared to May 2005. Soybeans, spring wheat, and alfalfa hay were up, while corn, sunflower, and barley were down. Oat prices were unchanged, according to USDA's South Dakota Agricultural Statistics Office. Preliminary June livestock prices were up for calves and sows. The preliminary June all beef cattle price, at $91.80, was down $2.10 from last month but up $2.20 from last year. Steers and heifers, at $101.00, were unchanged from May but were $1.00 above June of last year. Calves, at $141.00, were up $6.00 from last month and up $7.00 from last June. The preliminary June all hog price, at $50.00, was down $5.40 from last month and down $7.20 from last year. Barrows and gilts were down $6.00 from last month and down $7.90 from last year. Sows were up $1.40 from May 2005 but down $3.20 from last June. The all hay price for June, at $62.00 per ton, was up $2.00 from May but down $4.00 from last year. The alfalfa price, at $63.00 per ton, was up $2.00 from last month but down $4.00 from last year. The other hay price, at $47.00, was down $2.00 from last month and down $3.00 from June 2004. The preliminary soybean price, at $6.49, was up 38 cents from last month but down $2.63 from June 2004. The corn price, at $1.89, was up 5 cents from the previous month but down 94 cents from a year ago. The preliminary all wheat price for June, at $3.39, was up 10 cents from last month but down 35 cents from last year. The winter wheat price, at $3.03, was down 13 cents from last month and 57 cents below last June. The spring wheat price, at $3.62, was up 25 cents from last month but down 23 cents from last year. The June sunflower price, at $15.30, was down 80 cents from last month but up $2.30 from last year. The June oat price was unchanged from May but down 3 cents from last June.
