sd-crop-livestock PRICES RECEIVED News Release July 29, 2005 LIVESTOCK PRICES DOWN FROM LAST MONTH, CROP PRICES MIXED SIOUX FALLS, July 29, 2005 Preliminary July prices were down from June for livestock and most crops, while corn, soybeans, sunflower and malt barley were up, according to USDA's South Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service. The preliminary all wheat price for July, at $3.37, was down 27 cents from last month but up 12 cents from last year. The winter wheat price, at $3.01, was down 19 cents from last month and down 21 cents from last July. The spring wheat price, at $3.49, was 29 cents lower than last month but 12 cents higher than last year. The July soybean price, at $6.63, was 16 cents higher than last month but $1.41 lower than last year. The corn price, at $1.93, was up 6 cents from last month but down 36 cents from last year. The preliminary all sunflower price, at $15.30, was up 40 cents from last month and up $2.90 from last year. The preliminary July all hog price, at $49.20, was down $1.00 from last month and $8.40 below last year. Barrows and gilts were down 70 cents from last month and down $8.40 from last year, while sows were down $2.10 from June and down $8.20 from July 2004. The preliminary July all beef cattle price, at $81.60, was down $8.90 from last month and down $3.90 from last year. Steers and heifers, at $89.40, were down $10.20 from June and down $5.20 from July of last year. Calves, at $129.00, were down $10.00 from last month but up $4.00 from July 2004. The all hay price for July, at $61.00 per ton, was down $1.00 from June and down $4.00 from last year. The alfalfa price, at $62.00 per ton, was down $1.00 from last month and down $5.00 from last year. The other hay price, at $45.00, was down $2.00 from last month and down $12.00 from July 2004.
