sd-crop-livestock PRICES RECEIVED News Release September 29, 2005 CROP AND LIVESTOCK PRELIMINARY PRICES MIXED SIOUX FALLS, September 29, 2005 Preliminary September prices were up from August for most crops, with the exception of corn, soybeans and sunflower, according to the South Dakota Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Preliminary prices for swine were down, while all cattle and calves were up. The preliminary all wheat price for September, at $3.53, was up 13 cents from last month and up 17 cents from last year. The winter wheat price, at $3.19, was up 20 cents from last month and up 4 cents from last September. The spring wheat price, at $3.66, was 10 cents higher than last month and 21 cents higher than last year. The September soybean price, at $5.24, was 63 cents lower than last month and 49 cents lower than last year. The corn price, at $1.51, was down 29 cents from last month and down 54 cents from last year. The preliminary all sunflower price, at $13.30, was down 80 cents from last month but up 80 cents from last year. The preliminary September all hog price, at $49.90, was down $1.20 from last month and $5.50 below last year. Barrows and gilts were down $1.30 from last month and down $5.40 from last year, while sows were down $2.00 from August and down $5.60 from September 2004. The preliminary September all beef cattle price, at $94.00, was up $6.30 from last month but down $3.20 from last year. Steers and heifers, at $99.50, were up $5.10 from August but down $3.50 from September of last year. Calves, at $135.00, were up $3.00 from last month and up $1.00 from September 2004. The all hay price for September, at $64.00 per ton, was up $5.00 from August and up $4.00 from last year. The alfalfa price, at $68.00 per ton, was up $6.00 from last month and up $4.00 from last year. The other hay price, at $52.00, was up $2.00 from last month and up $2.00 from September 2004.
