SD-CROP-LIVESTOCK NEWS RELEASE United States Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service South Dakota Field Office - Sioux Falls, SD Media contact: South Dakota Office, 605/323-6500 Email: nass-sd@nass.usda.gov DECEMBER PRICES RECEIVED MIXED SIOUX FALLS, December 30, 2005 -- Preliminary December prices were up from November for corn, all barley, and oats, while all wheat, all hay, and alfalfa were down, according to the South Dakota Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Preliminary prices for swine were up, while all beef cattle prices were down. The preliminary all wheat price for December, at $3.74, was down 6 cents from last month but up 34 cents from last year. The winter wheat price, at $3.43, was up 4 cents from last month and up 26 cents from last December. The spring wheat price, at $3.85, was 9 cents lower than last month but 21 cents higher than last year. The December soybean price, at $5.40, was unchanged from last month but 12 cents higher than last year. The corn price, at $1.66, was up 11 cents from last month but down 14 cents from last year. The preliminary all sunflower price, at $10.60, was down 90 cents from last month and down $2.10 from last year. The preliminary December all hog price, at $46.80, was up $2.80 from last month but $6.10 below last year. Barrows and gilts, at $48.00, were up $2.80 from last month but down $6.40 from last year, while sows, at $37.40, were up $1.70 from November but down $3.80 from December 2004. The preliminary December all beef cattle price, at $94.10, was down $9.90 from last month but up $8.10 from last year. Steers and heifers, at $110.00, were down $6.00 from November but up $10.40 from December of last year. Calves, at $143.00, were unchanged from last month but up $16.00 from December 2004. The all hay price for December, at $60.00 per ton, was down $4.00 from November and down $6.00 from last year. The alfalfa price, at $63.00 per ton, was down $4.00 from last month and down $6.00 from last year. The other hay price, at $50.00, was down $1.00 from last month and down $1.00 from December 2004.
