sd-crop-livestock SEPTEMBER CROP REPORT News Release September 12, 2005 FORECASTED PRODUCTION FOR CORN FALLS, SOYBEANS UNCHANGED FROM LAST MONTH SIOUX FALLS, September 12, 2005 -- South Dakota's September 1 corn production is forecast at 452.4 million bushels, down 3 percent from last month and 16 percent below last year's level. Yield is forecast at 116 bushels per acre, down 4 bushels from the August forecast and 14 bushels below last year. Acres to be harvested for grain are forecast at 3.90 million, down 6 percent from last year. Soybean production is forecast at 132.0 million bushels, unchanged from last month but 6 percent below last year. Yield, at 33 bushels per acre, remains unchanged from the previous month's forecast but is 1 bushel below last year. Acres for harvest are forecast at 4.0 million, down 3 percent from last year. Sorghum production is forecast at 6.24 million bushels, unchanged from last month's forecast but 1 percent below last year's level. Yield, at 52 bushels per acre, is unchanged from last month but is 10 bushels above last year. Grain sorghum harvested acres, forecast at 120,000, are down 20 percent from last year.
