WINTER WHEAT SEEDINGS DOWN



SIOUX FALLS, January 12, 2006 – Winter wheat seedings for the 2006 crop totalled 1.35 million acres, down 200,000 acres (13 percent) from the previous year’s crop, according to the South Dakota Office of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.  In the last 10 years South Dakota averaged 1.460 million seeded acres of winter wheat.
