sd-crop-livestock CATTLE ON FEED News Release August 19, 2005 CATTLE ON FEED INVENTORY DOWN FROM JULY SIOUX FALLS, August 19, 2005 -- South Dakota's 1,000+ capacity feedlots reported 143,000 cattle on feed for the slaughter market on August 1, according to the USDA's South Dakota Ag Statistics Service. This is down 14,000 head from a year earlier and down 18,000 head from a month earlier. Placements during July totaled 15,000 head, up 3,000 head from last year but down 11,000 head from June 2005. Marketings of fed cattle during July totaled 30,000 head, up 4,000 head from last year but down 18,000 head from June 2005. Other disappearance during July totaled 3,000 head, up 1,000 head from last year but unchanged from June 2005.
