Sioux Falls, SD Media contact: South Dakota Office, 605/323-6500 Email: nass-sd@nass.usda.gov CATTLE ON FEED INVENTORY UP FROM NOVEMBER SIOUX FALLS, December 23, 2005 -- South Dakota’s 1,000+ capacity feedlots reported 190,000 cattle on feed for the slaughter market on December 1, according to the South Dakota Office of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The December 1 number is up 4,000 head from last year and up 29,000 head from November. Placements during November totaled 63,000 head, up 12,000 head from last year but down 5,000 head from October. Marketings of fed cattle during November totaled 33,000 head, unchanged from last year but down 2,000 head from October. Other disappearance during November totaled 1,000, unchanged from a year ago but down 1,000 from last month.
