SIOUX FALLS, January 18, 2005 - - The October - December quarterly milk production for South Dakota totaled 335 million pounds, 4 percent above the fourth quarter one year ago, according to USDA's South Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service. This is 1 percent above the July - September quarter in 2004.

The average number of milk cows during the quarter, at 80,000 head, was unchanged from the fourth quarter of 2003 and unchanged from 2004's July - September quarter.
