CATTLE ON FEED INVENTORY UNCHANGED FROM FEBRUARY
						
SIOUX FALLS, March 24, 2006 -- South Dakota’s 1,000+ capacity feedlots reported 210,000 cattle on feed for the slaughter market on March 1, according to the South Dakota Office of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.  The March 1 number is unchanged from a year ago and from February.

Placements during February totaled 33,000 head, up 1,000 head from a year earlier but down 5,000 head from January.

Marketings of fed cattle during February totaled 32,000 head, up 1,000 head from last year but down 5,000 head from January.

Other disappearance during February totaled 1,000 head, down 1,000 from last year and down 2,000 head from January.
