Corn is essentially done with a few scattered acres left to harvest. Soybean harvest progressed rapidly but still acreage to be harvested. Cotton harvest began in earnest this week with much progress being made but at a slower pace than other crops. Wheat seeding was accomplished on many acres but the ideal planting window of October 15 to November 15 has passed." Tim Campbell, Dyer County "The farmers in Fayette County got started on their harvest Wednesday after a rain event Monday and a cloudy/misty day Tuesday. Beans and cotton are the two crops left and yields still look good. Farmers have indicated that they need about 5-10 more days to finish getting their crop in. Wheat planting has just about finished with hardly any being planted in Fayette County this year." Jeffery Via, Fayette County "Good strides in getting beans harvested. Still some corn in the field. Bean yields have been very high, mostly in the 60's, but there are some quality issues with the beans. Some producers have had storage issues with some granaries being full and long lines at other granaries." Kevin Rose, Giles County "Dry all week. Fall harvest end is coming soon." J. Dale Beaty, Warren County "Corn Harvest is Complete. Late beans are still standing. We've had 8 light frosts so far - no real killing frosts yet." John Goddard, Loudon County "We still have over 150 acres of corn that still has not been harvested. Ground is still saturated and preventing farmers from planting wheat."
