2010 Texas Wheat Variety Survey Results
For the second year in a row, the
USDA-NASS
Texas Field Office conducted a Wheat Variety Survey in cooperation with the
Texas AgriLife Extension Service, the
Texas Wheat Producers Board,
Texas Foundation Seed Service, and
Texas Seed Trade Association.
Approximately 3,500 Texas wheat producers from all wheat growing regions of the
state were included in the survey.
Included in the tables below are the most commonly reported
varieties in the state and in Texas AgriLife Extensions Service Districts. Less
common varieties are included in the”Other or unknown varieties” category
at the bottom of each table. For certain districts, not enough positive reports
were received to publish a statistically defensible estimate. Reports from those
districts are included in the state table but no separate district table is published.
There are three columns in each table showing, for each variety:
(1) the percent of positive reports the variety represented, (2) the percent of
acres planted to that variety out of the total reported wheat acres planted and
(3) the percent of acres of that variety harvested out of the total reported wheat
acres harvested. The final column represents the average reported yield reported
for each variety.
