Texas April 1 Citrus Forecast

The April 1, 2008, Texas grapefruit production is forecast at 6.4 million boxes for the 2007-2008 season, down 10 percent from last year’s 7.1 million boxes.  This forecast is down from January.

All orange production is estimated at 1.79 million boxes, down 10 percent from last year.  The orange forecast is up slightly from January.  Early and mid-season oranges account for 1.40 million boxes and Valencias for 388,000 boxes.  The production of all oranges totaled 1.98 million boxes last season.

United States grapefruit production is forecast at 36.05 million boxes, down 10 percent from last year.  All orange production is forecast at 236.1 million boxes, up 33 percent from last year.
