
General
Each of the six half-day sessions will be about 3½ hours in duration. The basic format will be:
Due to time constraints, there will be no oral presentation of contributed papers. Contributed papers will be published in the conference proceedings and provided to appropriate program session discussants for comment.
Preparation of Manuscripts
In order to minimize the editing needed to prepare conference materials and publications, please use the following specifications when preparing manuscripts.
Language: Papers must be written in English.
Length: A maximum length of 2 pages is requested.

Layout:
Abstract: Papers must have an abstract of no more than 200 words. The abstract should summarize results, topics discussed, and main conclusions, but it should not contain any displays, complex notation, or references.
Sections: Number titles of main sections (headings) using arabic numerals. Number titles of subsections (sub-headings) using a decimal system (1.1, 1.2, etc.)
Tables: Number tables consecutively in the order in which they are cited. Place tables as close as possible to the first citation. Each table should have a brief descriptive title that does not duplicate information in the headings of the table. Column headings should provide brief descriptions identifying column content. Keep horizontal and vertical rules within tables to a minimum.
Figures: Number figures (illustrations, charts, etc.) consecutively in the order in which they are cited. Each figure should have a brief descriptive title. If appropriate, place a brief descriptive caption beneath the figure.
Equations: Mathematical expressions (equations, formulas, etc.) should be centered on a separate line and identified by consecutive arabic numerals in parentheses placed flush with the right margin.
References: Indicate references in the text by author's name and year of publication in square brackets, e.g. [Williams, 1996]. Do not use footnotes. Place "References" alphabetized by author in a list at the end of the paper. Include only references cited in the text. For each reference, include author, date of publication, title and publication information, e.g.
Smith, J.T. and Jones, B.E. (1997), "Article Title," Journal Title, Vol. 1, No. 3, pp. 10-25.
Williams, B. (1996), "Chapter Title," Book Title, Place of Publication: Publisher Name, pp. 20-53.
Submission of Manuscripts
Please submit an electronic file and hard copy of the manuscript as early as possible.
Due Date: Manuscripts should reach the Organizing Committee by February 1, 1998.
Electronic file format: Manuscripts should be submitted in WordPerfect 6.1 (preferred) or earlier versions, or Microsoft Word for Windows 6.0 or earlier versions.

Presentations
Due to time constraints, there will be no oral presentation of contributed papers.
Publication and Distribution of Manuscripts
The Organizing Committee will print copies of all contributed papers. Advanced copies will be sent to the chairpersons and discussants for the most applicable sessions. Copies will also be included in the materials to be distributed to participants at the conference.
Contributed papers will be published in the Agricultural Statistics 2000 conference proceedings.
