Graphical image display for selected items and frequencies from
1992 Census of Agriculture. For a complete list of items, see the

Universe Description

The universe is all farms in the 50 U.S. States.  A farm is any
place from which $1,000 or more of agricultural products were
sold, or normally would have been sold, during the census year.

Subject-Matter Description

This report graphically illustrates the Nation's agriculture by
dot and multicolor pattern maps.  The maps provide displays on
major topics from the 1992 Census of Agriculture including number
of farms, value of land and buildings, farm size, farms by value
of sales, tenure and characteristics of farm operators, principal
occupation of operator, and farms by type of organization.  In
addition, the report covers land in farms and land use,
irrigation, market value of agricultural products sold, farm-related
income, farm production expenses, machinery and equipment,
agricultural chemicals, livestock and poultry inventories and sales,
crops harvested including vegetables, fruit, and nursery and
greenhouse crops.

Geographic Coverage

Data are available for the U.S.  Only 1992 Census of Agriculture
data are display in the maps.

     Documentation and descriptive files are stored as ASCII text
          files.

published separately for each state and include data for the
state and each county.  The United States volume contains data for
the U.S. and states.  This series provides information on all data
items collected in the 1992 census with comparable data from the
1987 census.  The reports are available from the Superintendent of
Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. 20402.
