A farm by census definition, is any place from which $1,000 or more of agricultural products
were produced and sold, or normally would have been sold, during the census year.

The Census of Agriculture provides a detailed look at agriculture in each of the Nation's 3,000 plus counties. These data provide a complete picture of U.S. farms and ranches every 5 years. Detailed Census of Agriculture information on commodities; farm operator characteristics; grosssales; expenditures; use of chemicals, fertilizers, and irrigation; land use, ownership, and tenure characteristics are available at the county, state and US level.
