Illinois livestock producers received $1.926 billion from marketings in 1995, down six percent from the $2.05 billion received in 1994. Cash receipts for cattle and calves, at $622.3 million, were down seven percent and cash receipts for hogs, at $898.9 million, were down five percent. This compares with 1994 receipts of $671.1 million for cattle and $942.6 million for hogs. The number of cattle farms was unchanged during 1996. The number of hog farms declined eight percent in 1996 to 8,800 farms.
