As this report details, Illinois continues to be a premier global agricultural provider. Illinois farm commodities not only feed the world, but also are sought for the production of a variety of consumer goods. Illinois producers and ag-related businesses work together to consistently deliver for the world-wide marketplace.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture continues both to fight for increased trade opportunities and help agri-business take advantage of new and existing markets. Legislation promoting new trade possibilities is only half the battle. The Illinois Department of Agriculture follows through with offices in Belgium, Canada, Hong Kong and the United States to promote Illinois products around the world, providing other countries with high quality products boosting Illinois' farm income. The department also brings international buyers to Illinois to see first-hand the quality and value Illinois agriculture can provide.

To compete globally, producers and buyers alike must be informed. That is why the state Agriculture Department works closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide the latest market news and statistics, not only in this report, but on a daily basis. Illinois' success in the global marketplace, while aided by policy and outreach, is principally made possible by the farm families and support businesses that consistently deliver a high-quality and affordable product to the world. This report not only gives an update of Illinois farm progress, but also tells the story of the commitment and hard work of Illinois producers.
