1998 CASH RECEIPTS

Cash receipts from farm marketings in Kansas during 1998 are estimated at $7.78 billion, down 9 percent from 1997, according to Kansas Agricultural Statistics (see table 1). Livestock receipts decreased 8 percent while crops receipts decreased 10 percent.
Cattle and wheat accounted for the largest cash receipts in Kansas at $4.03 billion and $1.32 billion, respectively.

1/ Includes amount paid under agriculture and conservation programs (Agriculture Conservation, Emergency Conservation, and Great Plains Program). 2/ These are commodity programs in effect prior to the 1996 Farm bill and represent financial transactions based upon activity initiated under commodity programs that were replaced by "Production Flexibility Payments" in mid-1996.
