1999 CASH RECEIPTS

Cash receipts from farm marketings in Kansas during 1999 are estimated at $7.62 billion, down 4 percent from 1998 (see table 1). Livestock receipts increased 10 percent while crops receipts decreased 23 percent.
Cattle and wheat accounted for the largest cash receipts in Kansas at $4.52 billion and $980 million, respectively.

1/ Includes amount paid under agriculture and conservation programs (Agriculture Conservation, Emergency Conservation, and Great Plains Program). 2/ These are commodity programs in effect prior to the 1996 Farm bill and represent financial transactions based upon activity initiated under commodity programs that were replaced by "Production Flexibility Payments" in mid-1996. The negative numbers are repayments by farmers of unanticipated overpayment under the earlier programs. 3/ The programs included are Market Loss payments of $2.8 billion funded by Omnibus Supplemental Appropriations of FY 1999, Forestry Incentive, Dairy Indemnity, Extended Warehouse Storage, Extended Farm Storage, Livestock Emergency Assistance, Interest Payments, Disaster, Milk Marketing Fees, Additional Interest, Noninsured Assistance, Karnal Bunt Fungus, Disaster Reserve, Environmental Quality Incentives, Colorado River Incentive, Wetlands Reserve, and Dairy Disaster Assistance.
