2003 Cash Receipts
Cash receipts from 2003 farm marketings in Kansas were $9.05 billion, up 12 percent from 2002. Livestock receipts increased 16 percent, accounting for 68 percent of all receipts. Crop receipts increased 4 percent, accounting for the remaining 32 percent. Gross income per Kansas farm, prior to inventory adjustment, increased 14 percent from 2002's level. Net income per farm, after inventory adjustment, averaged $21,502 in 2003, up $17,596 from the year earlier. Total State production expenses increased 15 percent for the year. Total direct government payments were up 78 percent for the year. See detailed data in the accompanying tables.
