nd-prices-economic NEWS RELEASE Agricultural Prices July 29, 2005 North Dakota Agricultural Prices The Index of Prices Received for All Farm Products in July is 116 percent of the 1990-1992 base, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistical Service, North Dakota Field Office. This is down 3 percent from last year but 8 percent above two years ago. The All Crops Index, at 114 percent of the base, is down 5 percent from July 2004 while the All Livestock Index, at 119 percent, is up 3 percent from last year. July indexes are calculated using preliminary mid-month prices. The June Index of Prices Received for All Farm Products, recalculated with full month prices, was 114 percent of the base, down 3 percent from June 2004. The All Crops Index, at 112 percent, was down 6 percent from the previous year while the All Livestock Index, at 119 percent, was up 5 percent. Preliminary July prices, followed by the change from June: Spring Wheat, $3.45 per bushel, down 2 cents; Durum Wheat, $3.45 per bushel, down 25 cents; Winter Wheat, $2.60 per bushel, down 10 cents; Feed Barley, $1.35 per bushel, up 1 cent; Malting Barley, $2.25 per bushel, up 3 cents; Corn, $1.95 per bushel, up 8 cents; Soybeans, $6.50 per bushel, up 23 cents; Flaxseed, $10.00 per bushel, down $1.20; Oil Sunflower, $14.00 per hundredweight (cwt.), down 60 cents; Non-Oil Sunflower, $19.80 per cwt., down 90 cents; All Dry Edible Beans, $21.70 per cwt., down $1.20; Alfalfa Hay, $59.00 per ton, down $4.00; Other Hay, $40.00 per ton, down $1.00; Steers and Heifers, $102.00 per cwt., down $2.00; Cows, $60.00 per cwt., down 50 cents; Calves, $133.00 per cwt., down $2.00. June whole month prices, with no preliminary July, followed by the change from May: Canola, $10.50 per cwt., down 20 cents; Navy Beans, $24.10 per cwt., down $1.90; Pinto Beans, $23.30 per cwt., down 60 cents; Fresh Potatoes, $5.85 per cwt., down 15 cents; Potatoes for Processing, $6.20 per cwt., unchanged; Hogs, $51.20 per cwt., down $3.50; Lambs, $118.00 per cwt., up $4.00; Sheep, $40.00 per cwt., down $4.00. July prices are preliminary and based on sales data for only part of the month. They will be replaced with whole month prices in next month's report. June prices are based on sales data for the entire month.
